Video chat with students from Isanti, Mn...
Today is one of those days you just can't complain about. Blue skies, southerly wind bringing warmer temperatures and a chance to video chat with a group of students close to home.
At 1:00 today, the School for All Seasons "called" and I had the opportunity to meet face-to-face, virtually, and share a bit about my trip to the arctic and hear about their studies in school on this region. It was mostly me talking, but there was a short Q&A at the end where the students, via a teacher, were able to get in a few extra questions. Working with students in Minnesota has always been high on my list of priorities for this trip and SFAS has been great to share with. We have other calls scheduled for later in the week and next. Prior to leaving SFAS sent me a "Flat Stanley" polar bear to travel along with me. After I return the polar bear will be delivered to SFAS to remind them about the arctic and our work together. See photo of "Flat Stanley." There is a lot of planning going on right now in terms of where I'll be at in the days ahead. As I mentioned before, I will not be going to the Barnes Ice Cap and will most likely be wrapping up my time on the Clyde Inlet. As to where I'll be in the next few days, please check back and I'll keep you posted. Note: Ran out of veggie chili and curry lentil soup today, times are getting tough as I dig deeper into my food bag.jim
